One Black professional tells USA Today the story of how he set himself up for success in the financial services industry
USA Today reporter Charisse Jones recently wrote an article about minorities in the financial services industry. The piece, which discusses how to overcome underrepresentation, features Kenny Haywood, a UCLA alumni with a degree in economics. Kenny, a Black American, has forged a path for himself as a future financial consultant who aims to create a more diverse and equitable industry. Specifically, Kenny wants to help new professional athletes manage their wealth. Black employees remain underrepresented in the nation’s financial firms, from entry-level positions to upper levels and C-suites. In this article, Haywood talks about what he is doing to overcome the obstacle that is underrepresentation, and how he used networking, interview practice, and sheer grit and determination to get his foot in the door of the financial services industry. We commend Kenny for his hard work and dedication, and we can’t wait to welcome more professionals like him to the field. To read the full article, click here.
